Parents
As a parent you are the most important person in your child’s life. You provide the love, support, and structure that your child needs to learn to navigate the world. When you interact with your child through play you are teaching them skills in the most natural way possible. It is a moment for connection and learning.
Studies have shown that play is connected to successful learning and emotional regulation. When children play they are experimenting and figuring out how things work; Something as simple as building a block tower involves planning, focusing, balancing, dealing with frustration, and gives your child the confidence of learning that they can succeed. These lessons are being learned in a positive, safe, and naturally motivating environment.
To many children play comes naturally and they can sit with a castle or dollhouse creating fantasy worlds for hours. Some children have a harder time with play. This can be for a variety of reasons as play is complex with a lot of different skills going into games and interactions.
I work with children and their parents to help maximize play time and to teach children these important skills. I also work with nannies and babysitters and provide them with materials including customized play plans to develop skills and charts that help track progress. This helps maximize the learning and developmental potential of playtime that is customized to your child’s needs.
